Infection Control

Sterilization

For your health and safety, Heritage Dental office meets or exceeds all prescribed government standards of sterilization and infection control.

The measures that we take are called universal precautions, which means that we ALWAYS use the same strict infection control procedures for every patient.

To prevent the spread of infection, our control methods include the use of barriers such as gloves, masks, gowns and plastic covers. Where possible, disposable equipment and instruments are used. Reusable instruments, including handpieces, are heat sterilized in accordance with the guidelines from the U.S. Government’s Center for Disease Control.

After every patient, the treatment room is stripped of all plastic covers and instruments, all surfaces are wiped with disinfectant, and the room is reset with new covers, disposable and heat sterilized instruments.
